Dear staff,
I had a wonderful stay at your hotel. The location was perfect and the rooms are beautiful, full of character. Also, it was a very special evening for my girlfriend and myself, and you were very friendly and professional in making this evening unforgettable. What really sets this hotel apart from others, is the great attitude of the staff in a friendly and familiar atmosphere.
Keep up the good work ! We will definitely stay with you again on our next visit to Prague.
Kind regards,
Dear all the staff,
Thank you so much for making our group's stay in your hotel so successful. Everyone really enjoyed themselves and thought the hotel was absolutely lovely and in the perfect location for our sight seeing in Prague. With a special mention for the very tasty breakfast which we all agreed was the perfect start to our day.
Kindest greetings from the group from Scotland.
To all staff at U Zlateho Jelena
We have just returned from our second stay at your lovely hotel and wanted to say a big thank you for helping to make our New Year so special. We were really happy to receive the sparkling wine on New Year's Eve, it was a lovely thought. We all thought that your new bar area was great and I am sure that we will return in the future.
Kind regards for 2007.
Lovely stay at the Hotel
Hi Everyone,
Thank you very much for a lovely stay at the Hotel.
You are all a great asset and we could not have asked for any more. We remembered at the airport that we forgot to leave some chocolate as a thank you. Two boxes next visit !!
Kind regards until the next time,
Great Location
This is a nice oldy worldy hotel ideally situated for the old town area, probally one of the most ideally suited in any city i have visited. The room was vary spacious and pleasent with a good bathroom. The breakfast was more than adequate and would see you right untill late afternoon and was set in a nice dining area. Reception staff were very pleasent and helpfull at all times.
TV was availlable in the room but is all foreign apart from the news channels.Street noise was only pedestrian and was easily solved by closing the window (certainly quieter than Rome or Berlin)
The one thing to bare in mind is this hotel doesnt have air con and was incredibly hot ( just returned 27/7/06) especially at night, although we did have a decent electric fan supplied. Mini bar well stocked but if you like your tea or coffe take a travel kettle. I would recommend this hotel purely on location alone please dont make the mistake of staying in a cheap hotel miles out of town or in Wenceslas square.
Golden Stag, Prague - for those that hate big hotels!
What a difference a nice hotel makes! The location just could not be bettered - about 100 paces from the Old Town Square. The hotel has charm, character, fantastic staff and best of all, you feel very much "at home". Rooms good size, bathroom excellent (both spotless), staff extremely pleasant. Breakfast (very good) in the cafe. Try to get a room overlooking the road - nice to sepnd an hour before dinner (drink in hand) just watching the world (and endless tourists) go by. Will certainly go there again when next in Prague
Couldn't get a better location!
Location was fantastic!! And a small hotel with charm, high ceilings, but keep in mind there are a few steps! Room was ok (we had 4 of us sharing) there was plenty of room, but linen could do with improving as the sheets on one bed were clearly too small. One pillow was extremely lumpy as well, but this was replaced. Big room with plenty of light and reasonable sized bathroom.
Breakfast had plenty of choice and staff were always helpful. We would stay here again.
Fabulous location wonderful place
just arrived back from 5 day stay at this wonderful city. hotel really central, a few steps from old and new quarters also jewish and lesser quarters.room 11 we stayed in was wonderfully huge bathroom was amazing.little noise at night although it wasn't a great problem.staff not very chatty although helpful if asked any queries.a travel kettle essential as no tea and coffee facilities available.rooms were really warm and clean.biggest drawback being on day of departure you have to vacate rooms at 10.30am,and as beautiful prague is there is only so much you can see drink and eat with temperatures -10 we walked aimlessly and eventually returned to hotel to sit in cold what you call reception waiting for taxi to airport for return evening flight. we did ask at hotel if we could pay to keep room on a bit but this was not possible. it is worth bearing this in mind as there is no lobby or bar to wait.
Amazing! You keep doing your best. Loving in the atmosphere! Keep it up! Next year I want to bring my great great great nephews! Thank you!
Brilliant hotel full of character. Great location near to great bars, clubs, restaurants and the Old Town Square. Rooms very clean and warm (which was appreciated in February and the jacuzzi bath was a great bonus. When back in Prague will definitely stay there again
Wonderful hotel, fabulous location
Just got back from a wonderful 4 night stay at this hotel. Superb location for everything, literally right on the Old Town Square, one minute walk maximum. Rooms very clean, bright, spacious, warm and beds very comfortable. Highly recommended. Will be making a return visit sometime soon. Only one slight criticism but easily rectified - there was no tea/coffee making facilities in the room - so take a travel kettle and some cups/tea/coffee etc. There was a mini bar/cooler. However the reception staff who were on duty 24/7 were very good and allowed us to use the staff kitchen facilities. I would definitely say you won't be disappointed if choose to stay at this hotel.
This small hotel is superb, although i would describe it as some what `quirky`. Which added to the charm for me. Staff friendly and rooms clean with excellent bathrooms. The location just the main square is great. Breakfast is basic, but good
Excellant location, friendly staff and good clean accomodation.
We have stayed twice and are visiting again next month
Personal service at this small hotel
We were very pleased with this hotel. It's a few steps from Old Town Square and within easy walking distance of all other sites. The staff went out of their way to be of assistance - even repairing my electrical adaptor which wouldn't work! The breakfast was excellent, the room spacious, and the bathroom lovely. Highly recommended.
I recommend this hotel for: business travelers, couples and romantics, seniors, tourists
Great hotel for exploring Prague
We chose this hotel, because it was in the Old Town and we were only staying a couple of days. The location proved to be excellent. It is within walking distance of Charles Bridge, Wenceslas Square, the Jewish Quarter, and the Castle. The hotel is quiet and well maintained, the entrance tucked away down a short alleyway, just off Old Town Square. Our room was spacious with double doors, high ceilings and furmished with antique furniture. Breakfast was plentiful and varied. We used transfers from Prague airport and return - the drivers both spoke English and were friendly and infomative - well worth the fare.
If you want to explore Prague and to stay in an interesting central hotel, then this is the place to stay.
I recommend this hotel for: couples and romantics, tourists
Absolutely gorgeous
This is a lovely hotel. The location is absolutely perfect - one minute from Old Town Square! Our room was enormous with a lovely big bathroom (interestingly, containing its own garden bench for toilet conversations?). The staff were friendly, breakfast was great - and the whole place was very atmospheric.
Having said this - i wouldn't have stayed anywhere else. It was a total pleasure. I'd heartily recommend this hotel. I loved staying there.
I recommend this hotel for: couples and romantics, honeymooners, seniors, tourists
Perfect Location
Ideal location just off of the main old town square. This is a bed & breakfast lodge with comfortable but not outstanding rooms. Nice, but limited daily breakfast. The bathrooms were recently redone and more than adequte. Moved to the 'VIP' room for our last night (5 total) and it had nicer appointments and more comfortable beds. Remember that this is on the main drag and the noise goes all night long on the steet. You sleep with windows open so bring earplugs if that bothers you.
I recommend this hotel for: business travelers, couples and romantics, singles, families with teenagers
Great, central, friendly hotel
This hotel, tucked just behind the gothic church on the old town square, is a fabulous place to stay for a holiday in Prague. So centrally located there is no need for any public transport and the staff are absolutely lovely. Despite being so central it was also very peaceful at night and seemed to be just off the beaten track enough to avoid any stag/hen party noise in the early hours of the morning. The rooms are very spacious and clean with amazing high ceilings and big windows. The building has plenty of character with creaky wooden stairs and period furniture. The plumbing in our room made some alarming noises when we turned on the shower and the key to the room required quite a degree of expertise to open the door but it was all part of the experience. The breakfast was outstanding also with lots of choice. A much better option than the usual bland, modern hotels found in many cities.
I recommend this hotel for: singles, families with small children, families with teenagers, students, budget travelers, active/adventure travelers, tourists
Wonderful! This hotel was very clean, centrally located (we couldn't have picked a better location), staff was very helpful, breakfast was delicious, large room, big windows, large bathroom. The only down-side is that our room was on the street side and very noisy when the stag parties were walking by! I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to friends.
Fabulous!
What a hotel! Excellent location just of the main square with lovely spacious and clean rooms. The staff were lovely and very friendly and the breakfast was also of the highest standard. I would also recommend the Jazz club/bar that is just around the corner as you are walking towards the old town square - it was open till the early hours and even if you don't like Jazz the first room - or outdoor tables - were in a seperate area to the musicians. I would recommend this hotel and can't wait to book up again as Prague is the most magical place!
I recommend this hotel for: couples and romantics, singles, active/adventure travelers, tourists
The location is the most central one can desire, you're in the heart of Prague and it's fantastic.
We reached Prague by car and it's was just a bit difficult to find the hotel and to park it.
The room and the bathroom were clean but I find the breakfast a bit "poor".Nevertheless I will recommend it to my friends.
Great Location
We stayed here for 4 nights in late May. The hotel is in a perfect location in the city center. The main square is a block away. The rooms are huge even by US standards, the bathrooms are spotless and modern. The hotel staff are friendly, helpful, and informative. The buffet breakfast is very good. Although the views from our room were fantastic, there was a great deal of street noise until the wee hours of the morning.
I recommend this hotel for: couples and romantics, honeymooners, active/adventure travelers, tourists
Lovely hotel
We have just returned from a short break at the Golden Stag. The hotel is absolutely fantastic in every way.The location is perfect only a 2 minute walk from Old Town Square (which we prefered to Wenceslas Square) in a lovely peaceful location. The rooms are spotlessly clean and the jacuzzi bath a real treat! The staff were helpful and the breakfast was fantastic with a selection of fruits cereals cheeses hams etc etc.We would not hesitate in recommending this hotel We travelled with my elderly parents and they could manage the stairs no problems without a lift. All that's left to be said is that we can't wait to go again.
I recommend this hotel for: business travelers, couples and romantics, honeymooners, seniors, budget travelers, active/adventure travelers, tourists
Just what I wanted...
PERFECTLY located off the old town square, clean, quiet, charming. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Breakfast was lovely. And a great price for all of the above!
I will say that I was initially surprised by the room... it didn't quite have the look of a typical American hotel room, which is what I'm used to. The bed was kind of low and the bedding concept different. But all very comfortable, and very easy to get used to! The room and bathroom were quite large.
I would go back there in a heartbeat, and have recommended it to all my friends considering travelling to Prague.

Delightful Hotel
We stayed at the Golden Stag for three nights in March 2005 and what a wonderful place to stay. Very warm and comfortable room - and spotlessly clean. The breakfast room was a delight to be in. Plenty of choice and excellent service. In fact perhaps the best continental breakfast we have come across. The location of the hotel was perfect. In fact the taxi driver said we couldn't have picked anything better in view of the reasonable price we paid.
I recommend this hotel for: business travelers, couples and romantics, tourists
When we got to the hotel someone had made a mistake and double booked the room but they upgraded us to a VIP room. Location couldn't be better and I would recommend it just for this. Comfortable room - great bathroom and friendly staff.
Very impressed. Location is superb - you're guaranteed to see a wealth of architecture just by stepping out of the front door.
Room bright, airy & clean. Bathroom likewise. Didn't get to sample the food - spoilt for choice by all the superb eating venues the city has. Maybe next time, because I'll definitely be back!
Footnote: why can't we in U.K. prepare & present food like they do in Prague? I'm not just talking about the "posh" restaurants: the average mid-range cafe or tavern blows our "posh" eateries out of the water.
Excellent value, toasty warm when it was VERY cold outside. Good breakfast in the little coffee shop, we were well satisfied and would recommend to our friends. The location was just the best. By the way it is tricky to find, we ended up going through one of the next door shops...you really should go in thru the road at the rear!
Clean and central
We stayed for 4 nights in October. The bedroom and bathroom were both large and spotless. Central location minutes from Old Square so some noise during first night ( Manchester United were in town) but reasonably quiet after that. Excellent buffet breakfast with friendly service. General service crisp and correct efficiency rather than warm. L60 a night for 2 and worth it.
I recommend this hotel for: couples and romantics, singles, seniors, students, budget travelers, tourists
Perfect Traditional Hotel
The location of this hotel could not be better, 1 minute from the old town square, yet a quiet location, very spacious rooms with minibar & tv and lovely antique furniture. Very old, beautiful and traditional style of building, with modern bathrooms and very clean rooms. The staff are pleasant and the hotel has a small breakfast room/coffee shop. Breakfast was a good continental selection and plenty of it. If you would like to stay in a simple but lovely place in the centre of prague then this hotel is an absolute must, ideal for a romantic break however I should note that there is no lift.
The staff were very helpfull and welcoming, the room and location were excellent.the cafe and food first class. Everything was in walking distance, no need for public transport. Definately worth another visit.
A lovely comfortable small pension with character. Rooms are large and well presented, staff are friendly and helpful. Location is superb, but could possibly be noisy in the high season.
this hotel is excellent. so close to the main square, the welcome and the rooms are superb.
I booked this as a birthday treat-we will definitely return.
Hotel was really comfortable, with staff friendly and helpful. Hotel is ideally located , and the cafe excellent. Prague in winter is far better than Prague at the height of the summer!!!
Lovely hotel and perfectly located to see all the sights. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the room spacious and comfortable and the cafe very pleasant. Helped to make an excellent holiday in a great city!
The room was full of character, airy and spotless.... and the bed far more comfortable than it looked! the staff were charming and helpful. The cafe/breakfast room was traditional, well run and a lovely way to start the day. AS far as location is concerned it couldn't be bettered. We pre-booked our taxi transfer through this site. It worked brilliantly, our plane was early but the driver had pre-empted it and was a great source of information.
Stayed here with 14 freinds and every one agreed the accomadation was very good and very clean. The staff were very helpfull and freindly and the breakfast was very good to.
Many thanks, Gary
Brilliant location next to Old Town Square and on historic street, staff courteous and helpful, lots of character, rooms simple (a comfortable chair might have helped), but clean and stylish. Location alone makes it well worth recommending.
We stayed here in May 2003 for a long weekend. I couldnt recommend it more. The room was beautiful, clean and large. The location cannot be bettered, The staff are very friendly. Excellent!
Potential downside is the noise in the evening if you have a room on the street side - but it didnt keep us awake
Friendly staff, clean rooms, good breakfast, comfortable beds, and a central location. What more could a person need? All at a very good price.
Excellent location - comfortable rooms - although the shower?bath did have an annoying tendency to flood! All in all an excellent service that I would gladly recommend.
This is a small hotel tucked away in a courtyard just a few steps away from the old town square. The rooms are basic but comfortable ,clean, very warm and have nice bathrooms (tea/coffee making facilities would have been nice to have). The staff were friendly and efficient. The breakfast included cereal, fruit and a plate of cold meats and cheese (which was a little different to my usual English breakfast :-) ). The location of this hotel is spot on, being so close to the old town square and within easy walking distance of the lesser town and the new town. Travel.CZ were excellent and everything ran smoothly including transfers from and too the airport. The staff from Travel.CZ were very helpfull and the response to my Emails, when booking, was very quick and efficient. I would certainly use them again.
A very friendly and welcoming place to stay. The room was traditionally furnished, and perfectly acceptable for a short stay (although not as luxurious as western purpose built hotels). There was also an excellent new bathroom, which made a big difference. Its main advantage however was its central location, in a quiet street just off the Old Town Square - a perfect base to explore Prague. Good value for money, and very traditional.
Very Clean, reasonable and the location is OUTSTANDING!!! It is a little hard to find, because it is actually in a coutyard between two streets, so get specific directions before you go. The rooms are simple, but amazingly clean, with beautiful bathrooms. The beds were average, and it can be a little noisy if your room overlooks the street, but otherthan that, a great place for the budget traveler
Great place with large, nicely decorated rooms, jacuzzi bath was wicked after hard day walking round the sights of Prague. Staff were great. Generally an excellent place to stay. Thank you
Excellant value for money - perfect location - well recommended. Rooms are beautifully furnished and decorated
Great location. Large room with comfortable beds. Jacuzzi bath was great after walking throughout the day. Good breakfast. Friendly, helpful staff.
We thought that this hotel was excellent value for money. It's location right in the middle of the old town was superb and it was small and full of character whch I also liked. The rooms were clean, the receptionists were friendly and helpful and the breakfast was very satisfactory. I would recommend it without hestitation to anyone who was prepared to walk up the odd staircase, as there are no lifts.
Arrival procedure at airport Prag should be better organised as we did not find the taxi for pickup. But everything else was good.
Hi, I was in Prague for four nights and five days, from March 15th to March 19th. I think that U Zlateho Jelena is a very good hotel: perfectly clean, hot and very well positioned. Two minutes from Stare Mesto main square, just under the towers of the Tyn Church. Also, bathrooms are very clean and comfortable. Very good service and the staff is very nice. You will have a good breakfast, but if you are english you won't find eggs. My idea of this hotel is very very very good. I would say that is the best choice for Prague. So... come on! Don't hesitate to contact me! I was in Barcelona just a few months ago and paying the same price I spent my holidays in a cold and wetty room (well positioned, however): we could not stay in the room for more than one hour a day! This did non happened in U Zlateho: so comfortable! The strange and curious thing about U Zlateho Jelena (and perhaps of all the Czech Republic) is the absence of sheet: you sleep under a bended blanket! Nice and particular Sorry for my english, bye bye Paolo Reale Cremona - Italy
Good pension with a helpfull staff. The room was big and comfortable. Very good location in the center of the old town. Recomended!!!
Service was good and so was the atmosphere. I appreciated especially the excellent quality/price, considering that the hotel is right behind the major square. Only one con's: I would have prefer to pay in the hotel itself instead of going in the travel agency bureau!!
Very good value for money, excellent location, friendly staff & have recommended to other travellers.
service was excellent. very pleased with the entire transaction. Went much smoother than expected and had no problems.
fantastic location and nice room a and bathroom as well, a great place as a base to see all the best bits of prague with out too far to stumble after sampling the cities beer. my only complaint is that the breakfast could have been a bit better, but when you can get steak and chips for a pound at any of the bars round the corner this is hardly a problem. for the price i'd give it five out of five.
Location is excellent, service was efficient and helpful but not particularly friendly. Rooms are very clean and neat and interesting with high ceilings and old furniture. There was not a lot of privacy as some rooms opened directly onto the dining area. Try not to book these particular rooms if you value privacy or fancy a lie in. Also I booked a double room but got a twin room instead!
